My preauthorization hold has not fallen off. What do I do?

If a temporary preauthorization is still present on your account more than 5-7 business days after your product is shipped or canceled you will need to contact your financial institution. You can contact Customer Service to fax a preauthorization release form to your bank to help get this resolved. You would need to provide your order number, the amount of the preauthorization, your bank's name and fax number.

*At the time that your order is placed a temporary authorization verifying and holding available funds is provided by your financial institution. Although authorizations are not actual charges or debits, they can reduce the available balance in your account, typically for 5-7 business days, (the exact policies and time frames are dependent on your individual bank or credit card issuer). This preauthorization is released after the appropriate timeframe and will no longer appear in your account.

You are not actually charged for your order until the product has been shipped to you or picked up for a Buy online, pick up in-store order. In the case of orders which require multiple shipments, you will be charged for only the product that is included in each individual package, as it is shipped to you. (In this circumstance your banking statement will reflect multiple charges from Books-A-Million, each of which is smaller than your order total is calculated at the time of checkout.)
